Understanding the daily reconciliation report
What the end-of-day report shows, how to close a shift, and how to reconcile cash against system totals.
1 min read
End-of-day reconciliation makes sure the cash in your drawer matches what the system recorded — the first line of defence against errors and theft.
Closing a shift
- At the end of the day, open the cash drawer or shift summary.
- Count the physical cash and enter the amount.
- MerxumOS compares it to expected cash (opening float plus cash sales minus payouts).
- Any difference is flagged as an over or short, which you can note and resolve.
- Close the shift to lock the numbers for the day.
Tip — Reconcile every shift, not just every day — it makes pinpointing a discrepancy to a person and time far easier.
